The Lagos State Government has debunked the alleged restrictions and presence of taskforce operatives along the Sheraton Link Bridge inward Opebi Road.
This is coming under the heels of a circular which warned motorists against turning left to connect to the Opebi Road after descending the link bridge as the taskforce officials were allegedly position along the road to arrest any defaulter.
Motorists were advised to turn right towards the new Ojota-Opebi bridge and make a U-turn to continue back to Opebi Road.
The circular also disclosed alleged restriction for motorists coming from Toyin Inward Opebi.
The road users are advised to go all the way towards Salvation Road to make a U-turn back to Toyin Street or head towards Opebi-Oregun Link Bridge and turn under the bridge to connect back to Toyin Street.
Reacting to the circular in a statement issued on Monday, the Lagos Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, debunked the claims, labelling them false and misleading.
Osiyemi maintained that traffic rules in the mention area remains the same.
“The information circulating about changes and restrictions around Sheraton Link Bridge inward Opebi Road is false and misleading.
“Traffic rules in that area remains the same for now until advised otherwise by the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation.” The Commissioner wrote.
He alco debunked claim that taskforce officials are preying on motorists who violates the alleged new traffic regulations stated in the circular.
Osiyemi urged motorists and other road users to debunk the claims and rely on official traffic information from the Lagos Ministry of Transportation.
“Also, the claim that task force officials are “preying” on motorists is false. There is nothing like that happening.
“Please ignore the message and rely only on official traffic information from Lagos State Ministry of Transportation.
“Stay safe and do not share false information.” He added.
