A prominent traditional ruler in Lagos state the Ayangburen of Ikorodu Oba Kabir Shotobi was on Tuesday asked to move the motion for the adoption of President Bola Tinubu as the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) candidate for a second term come 2027.
Speaking on behalf of all traditional leaders in the state at the APC Stakeholders Forum , Oba Shotobi declared their support for Tinubu as he moved the motion for the endorsement.
“On behalf of the traditional rulers in Lagos State, I Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, we in Lagos State endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to go for the second time, so I move.” He said.
The motion was seconded by the Speaker House of Assembly, Mudasiru Obasa, to the applaud of all the stakeholders at the event.
“In view of the submission by all the stakeholders and motion this being moved by our royal majesty of Ikorodu, I hereby second the motion on behalf of my colleagues in the Lagos State House of Assembly and the people of Lagos State” Obasa said.
Meanwhile, the state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, while leading other party leaders at the stakeholders Forum, said it was the unanimous decision of the party in Lagos to endorse the President for a second term in office.
Sanwo-Olu had in his address asked Oba Shotobi to move the motion with Obasa selected by the governor to second it.
“We have listened to all of our stakeholders here today. And by unanimous decision which we are going to ask somebody to move and somebody to second that all of the representatives of the stakeholders of this state have come to the conclusion that he, President and Grand Commander in Chief, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, should return as our President.” The governor declared.
Present at the forum were former Governor Babatunde Fashola, Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, State Party Executives, State Executive Council, members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) like Alhaji Mutiu Are, Chief James Odunmbaku, and members of the Federal House of representatives, Hon. James Faleke; Senator Tokunbo Abiru; wife of the Deputy Governor, Lagos State, Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat; her husband, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat; and GAC Leader, Prince Tajudeen Olusi.
Also in attendance were Chairman, APC Lagos, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi; Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Shotobi and Speaker House of Assembly Mudasiru Obasa, and Youth Representatives led by the APC National Youths leader, Dayo Israel.
