The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO), has sealed off Viva Bella Court II, Lekki Peninsula, Eti-Osa, Lagos, over deliberate wastewater pollution.
The Commissioner of Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed this in an X post on Sunday.
He noted that the wastewater was deliberately discharged into the drains via laid pipe and having an overfilled septic tank spilling to the environment.
According to him, the continuous deliberate emptying of the septic tanks has been causing the reported foul smell in the surrounding area.
“This is an acts of environmental nuisance, pollution, degradation and endangering of human health.” he said.
He therefore urged Lagosians to embrace proper wastewater management and hygiene practices to enhance public health and environmental sustainability as such acts portend grave dangers to public health and will be meted with the appropriate sanctions.
