The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Taskforce has announced it has impounded 359 motorcycles and arrested the riders around some areas of Fagba, a suburb of Lagos.
This was made known by the Commissioner, Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab on Saturday via an X post.
According to him, the riders inhabit the streets with no known address, therefore posing a threat to the society.
He further disclosed that the detained riders have been dragged to court.
“Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Taskforce raided some areas in Fagba, confisticated 359 motorcycles and arrested the riders.
“The riders lives on the streets with no known address, constitutes nuisance, and pose a serious threat to the environment.
“They have been charged to court.”
The Ifako Ijaiye/Fagba area is commonly littered with most of these motorcycle riders constituting nusicance and literally taking over most parts of the road.
The government of Lagos has been very clear over it’s zero tolerance for environmental violations among which is indiscriminate use of Okada in the state.
