Former Nigerian Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has expressed his indifference over President Bola Tinubu’s reinstatement of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, after completion of his six months suspension.
NPO Reported that Tinubu had yesterday lifted Fubara’s suspension alongised his cabinet and members of the Rivers Assembly following his declaration of an end to the six months emergency rule in the state.
The development had since seen the appointed Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ette Ibas (Rtd), stepped down ahead of Fubara’s return.
While this had sparked jubilation in the state with thousands of supporters currently gathered at the Rivers Government House in anticipation for Fubara’s return, Atiku, in a statement posted on his X handle on Thursday, maintained that there is nothing the cheer about in the governor’s return.
The 2023 Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Presidential candidate reiterated that Tinubu’s initial suspension of Fubara remains unconstitutional and illegal.
Atiku said the President has no power to suspend a democratically elected governor and members of the House of Assembly.
This according to him further affirmed the alleged dictatorship stance of the Tinubu-led administration.
