Talks Down FCT Minister’s Interest in Oyo PDP
- Safiu Kehinde
The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has declared the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, and his factional members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as bunch of vagabonds who remain expelled from the party.
Makinde made this known during his address at the commissioning of the newly built Oyo State PDP Secretariat.
Citing a Yoruba adage, the Oyo governor labelled Wike and his cohorts as the PDP’s vagabonds who grew up in 2015 but waited for 10 years before attempting to create carnage within the party, prompting their expulsion by the party’s leadership.
“In Yorubaland, we always say that if you see a house, or a compound that is peaceful, the vagabond in that house has not grown up.
“The vagabonds in PDP, they grew up in 2015, they had their time, and 10 years, a decade, they practised their vagabond act in the PDP.
“But they have been expelled in November 2025. So, no more vagabond in PDP.” Makinde said.
While attributing the rise of Wike and his cohorts to the PDP defeat at the 2015 Presidential election, Makinde admitted once being part of the Wike faction.
He however affirmed that he is longer part of the faction while vowing to resist alleged plot by the faction to hold down the PDP for another party to be in power.
“Whatever it is that they are doing, you should be able to trace it back to their origin. In 2015, PDP lost power at the Federal level. There was a gap in the leadership. Otherwise, those vagabonds will never have been able to take hold of PDP.
“And let me confess, I came into government in 2019 and towards 2023, I was yoked with them. But now, I’ve repented. I am now born again. But for them to hold PDP for another party to be in power, it is a no no no.” He said.
Makinde expressed confidence in the judiciary in delivering justice in favour of the Tanimu Turaki-led faction.
“They can continue peddling their lies for 20 years, but the day truth comes out, that is the end of the lies.
“I have absolute trust in Nigeria’s judiciary. I know they will do the needful. So, all these court cases will all come together at some point and judiciary being the last hope of the common man will give justice to PDP.” He said.
Reacting to Wike’s declaration of interest in the affairs of Oyo PDP, Makinde talked down the former Rivers Governor’s declaration.
NPO earlier Reported that Wike had at the 105th National Executive Committee (NEC) held by the Abdulrahman Mohammed- faction of the party on Monday night declared interest in Oyo as part of efforts towards ensuring the chapter’s survival and success.
Makinde in reaction questioned the contribution Wike made to the PDP in Rivers which would have rendered him capable of interfering in Oyo’s affairs.
He labelled the faction NEC meeting as a nocturnal gathering of children in rags, adding that the day will soon break on them.
“Finally, someone said he is interested in Oyo PDP and at National level, ask him what he has done for the PDP in Rivers State where he came from.
“They are wearing rags and dancing around in the midnight. The day will soon break for them.”
