The 2027 Nigerian Democratic Congress Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi, has endorsed the candidacy of his fellow contender, Seyi Makinde, as he joined the Oyo State Governor and the Allied People’s Movement’s candidate in the flag-off of his presidential campaign.
Obi declared Makinde qualified to contest for the 2027 Presidential Election as he expressed readiness to work with whoever succeed in taking the All Progressives Congress out of power.
Addressing the crowd of APM supporters at the campaign flag-off ceremony on Monday, Obi claimed that his endorsement of Makinde is to proof to Nigerians that his presidential ambition is not borne out of desperation but out of the desire to build a new Nigeria.
‘We are going to build a new Nigeria, a Nigeria of love, a Nigeria of unity, a Nigeria of inclusion. You have a candidate who is contesting for presidency today, my dear brother, Makinde.
‘Number one is, is he qualified to be president, yes. What we are doing today is to show you that for us, it is not about desperation.
‘We want the people of Nigeria to make their choice. It is whoever they choose. All of us will come together to build a new Nigeria.’ He said.
Obi decried the economic hardship in the country as he charged the opposition parties to work together to save Nigeria from collapse.
‘We can’t continue the way we are going today. Our people are hungry. Our pople are poor.
‘Our people are insecured. Whoever wins genuinely in a free and fair election, all of us want to work together to save this country from collapse.
‘We don’t want politics of quarrel. We don’t want politics of disagreement. We want a Nigeria where a child of nobody can be somebody without knowing anybody. We need all of us to work as a family.’ He said.
