A driver has averted an imminent tragedy after bravely separating the head of a burning fuel tanker.
The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday at Iwo town in Osun State.
Viral video of the incident showed moment the driver burning truck off the main road and headed into a nearby street, sending panic among residents.
He stopped the vehicle few distance away from a fueling station before doing the unthinkable- detaching the truck head from the burning tanker.
It was gathered that the fuel tanker was discharging its product at a filling station near the popular Odoori Market along the Ibadan-Iwo-Osogbo Road when the tanker caught fire.
Helpless residents who watched the tanker burn could not do anything as people ran for their lives.
However the driver of the fuel tanker had made his way back into the drivers seat after which he successfully severed the truck head from the tank and after moving the whole burning tanker away from the crowd,
Residents had praised the driver for his bravery acknowledging that the tragedy could have been gory had he not taken the steps he took.
