The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan has said muslim women do not have to take off their scarfs just because they don’t want to be targeted.
Khan on his Official X handle revealed that, everyone should be able to go about life without being hated for who he or she is, saying he is committed to tackling hate and extremism in London.
He also announced more funding to help the grassroots groups continue work to build a safer Town for all.
Khan wrote, “I am committed to doing everything I can to tackle hate & extremism in London.
“A Muslim woman should not have to take off her headscarf because she doesn’t want to be targeted, nor a Jewish person hide their Star of David because they don’t want to be singled out.
“I am announcing additional funding to help grassroots community groups continue their work to build a safer London for everyone.
“I know the majority of Londoners believe in our values of equality, openness and respect for diversity.”.
