Millions of telephone lines have become inactive after the Nigerian Communications Commission made good its vow not to extend the deadline midnight Friday March 29.
The NCC had given a March 29 deadline for all telephone subscribers to ensure linkages of their NIN with their SIMs.
The commission said it is Part of Federal Government’s measures towards ending insecurity in the country.
NPO Reported Friday that NCC had declined to succumb to overtures by telcos to have the deadline extended by another one week.
But the commission said it has given enough period of grace for those whose lines were yet to be linked to do so.
Millions have woken up today (Saturday) to find their unlinked SIMs unable to receive or make calls.
