The All Progressives Congress candidate for the 2027 Ogun Governorship Election, Sen. Adeola Solomon, popularly known as Yayi, has revealed plan to appoint the late Nollywood legend, Taiwo Hassan, as his Special Adviser on Culture and Tourism if elected as the state governor.
Adeola made the disclosure during his condolence visit to the family of the late Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, at his hometown in Ilaro.
The governorship candidate, in his address to the grieving family and members of the community disclosed how he had planned to make Ogogo a cabinet-ranked special adviser when elected.
‘I said if, God willing, I become the governor of this state, my elder brother, Ogogo, will be my Special Adviser on Culture and Tourism, cabinet-ranked.
‘He won’t be a special adviser that will be outside. He will be cabinet-ranked as we run the affairs of the state together. That was my plan.
‘I kept to my chest. I was working with it and believed that God will do it. My reasons were not far fetched.
‘By virtue of what he does, acting as a traditonal person and cultural person, what else do I need.
‘Unfortunately, man proposes. Only God disposes.’ He said.
Adeola further recounted how he had insisted on visiting the family of the deceased actor first before engaging in any other activities following his return to Nigeria.
‘When I returned to the country yesterday, they tried to push me to do some things, but I said I will not do anything until I see Ogogo’s family.
‘I’m not going to talk to anybody, discourse politics, or attend any meeting as this will be the first place I will come to.’ He said.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Ogogo’s daughter, Kira Hassan, expressed her gratitude to everyone who stood with the family since the actor’s demise.
‘I want to say thank you to everybody seated here. May Almighty Allah bless each and every one of you for the love, for your presence, for every single thing.’ She said.
Kira became emotional as she hailed her late father for the life he lived and his support/
‘And for my Daddy, I know you are not here, but thank you for fighting. Thank you for the life that you lived.
‘Thank you for being a good husband to our Mummies and being a good father to us. He was our best friend’ she said.
