The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has recorded major operational gains after conducting precision airstrikes that destroyed terror camps in Katsina State and foiled a coordinated ISWAP/Boko Haram attack in Chibok, Borno.
The Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday in Abuja.
He said the operations, carried out under Operation FANSAN YAMMA and Operation HADIN KAI, followed intelligence-led surveillance that enabled fighter aircraft to identify and strike targets with accuracy.
Ejodame explained that the first series of air interdictions on November 27 targeted a fortified base belonging to a notorious terrorist leader linked to kidnappings, attacks and cattle rustling across Kankara, Faskari and Malumfashi in Katsina.
The initial strike at about 6:30 a.m. destroyed major structures and neutralised several terrorists attempting to flee after their movements were tracked by surveillance aircraft.
A second strike later in the day hit another hideout in Danfako, Faskari Local Government Area, destroying logistics centres and operational facilities used by the criminal network.
He confirmed that several terrorists were killed, further weakening their operations in the North-West.
In Borno, NAF aircraft provided support to troops of the 28 Task Force Brigade when ISWAP/Boko Haram fighters launched a multi-directional assault on Chibok.
Four airstrikes were reportedly delivered on regrouping and retreating terrorists, inflicting heavy casualties and preventing them from reorganising.
Ejodame said the combined air and ground response overwhelmed the attackers and helped safeguard residents, averting what could have been a significant security setback.
He added that the operations reflect the Air Force’s commitment to precision strikes aimed at degrading terrorist capabilities nationwide, noting that close coordination with ground forces will remain a key priority in ongoing security efforts.
