Don’t Come to Airport; Airline Warns Passengers
- Safiu Kehinde
Nigerian realtor and human rights advocate, Segun Awosanya, popularly known as Segalink, has been caught in flights diversion as tension mounts in Dubai airport over fear of Iran airstrike.
Having experienced series of missile attack by Iranian Force since the escalation of the war between the Middle East country and the United States- backed Israeli Forces, the flight operation at the Dubai airport had intermittently been suspended with the latest being the temporal suspension of all flight’s operation to and fro the airport on Monday.
The Emirates Airline, in a statement issued earlier today, had warned its passengers to avoid coming to the airport as it confirmed the latest suspension of flight operations.
It reiterated its commitment to the safety of its passengers and crew while assuring them of releasing updates when available.
“All flights to and from Dubai have been temporarily suspended. Please do not go to the airport.
“Emirates will share updates when available. We would like to thank our customers for their understanding and patience.
“The safety of our passengers and crew is our highest priority and will not be compromised.” The statement read.
Meanwhile, the temporal suspension of operation had also seen several flights standed in the Dubai airspace as they were prevented from landing at the airport.
Trapped in one of the standed flight, Segalink, in a post on his X handle, disclosed that his flight has been roaming the Dubai airspace for over two hours.
He said their directed to divert the aircraft to Medina in what he labelled an accidental Hajj.
“Been roaming the Dubai airspace for two hours hoping that the situation with the airport closure changes.
“We have just been informed now that we have to divert to Medina. This accidental Hajj was unexpected but it is well.” Segalink wrote.
NPO Reported that Iran had, in retaliation over the US and Israel airstrike which led to the death of its Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khameni, launched several attacks on its neigbouring countries across the Gulf Region over the presence of US military bases in the targeted countries.
