A Nigerian prison warder, identified as Adebayo Oluwapelumi, has allegedly clubbed a photographer to death with a stick in Lokoja, Kogi State.
This was disclosed in a post shared by an X user, Abdul Bello, on Wednesday.
Bello in the post disclosed how he had received a call earlier today on the death of the victim, simply identified as Ayo.
The X user narrated how the photographer was allegedly murdered on Tuesday night by Adebayo who was reported to be his neighbour.
Ayo was clubbed to death by the prison warder attached to the Lokoja correction centre.
Following the murder which happened in the presence of the victim’s roommate, Adebayo reportedly loaded Ayo’s body in a freezer before transferring into his white Hilux truck for disposal at an undisclosed location.
The photographer’s roommate contacted the neighbourhood vigilantes who, in swift response, trailed the prison warder.
The vigilantes shot the tyre of Adebayo’s vehicle when brought it to a halt.
While the vehicle and freezer were recovered, the victim’s body was not found in the freezer with killer managing to escape during the pursuit.
“This morning, I woke to a call that this promising young man Ayo a photographer in Lokoja known as Ayo Thrives photography who usually works with me whenever I needed his services was clubbed with a stick and murdered by his neighbor last night.
“He loaded the body in a freezer and drove him to an undisclosed location in his white hilux truck.
“While the murderer was perpetrating the evil act in the compound, Ayo’s roommate was in the room scared and motionless, all he did was trying to make contacts on his phone which led to a team of vigilante mobilized to the house, signal was sent out immediately and the truck conveying the body in the freezer was sighted heading out of Lokoja town around Nataco, the vehicle Tyre was shot at making it lose control.
“However the murder somehow escaped. The vehicle and freezer was recovered but the body was not found till this moment.
“The murderer goes by the name His name is Oluwapelumi Adebayo. He is from Odo Akodi compound, Ekinrin Adde, ijumu local government Parents name Deacon, (Barrister) & Deaconess J.O Adebayo. He is still at large, said to be a Prison officer who works at the correctional center Lokoja.” Bello narrated.
However, the Kogi State Police Command is yet to confirm the incident as at the time of filing this report.
