It’s been a hellish day for Nigerians as the first day of nationwide strike has crippled economic activities.
Though many banks opened for business on Monday, the shutdown of the national grid has worsened the power supply making many offices to close early on Monday.
NPO Reports correspondent who interviewed many people said that the first day of the strike has been impactful with many unable to work in their offices and other places of work.
NPO Reported that the Transmission Company of Nigeria had announced earlier in the morning that the grid had been deliberately shut down by workers as part of the grand plans to force the Federal government to a negotiating table.
Workers are demanding a sum of N494,000 as the new minimum wage .
The Federal government has said the proposal is unrealistic and would hurt the economy.
The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, (SAN), had accused the organised labour of embarking on an illegal nationwide strike.
