The umbrella body of the Igbo, Ohanaeze on Tuesday said Working With Buhari, a book by former Presidential aide, Femi Adesina, has exposed former President Muhammadu Buhari’s indignation for the Igbos.
The organisation made its submission in a release made available to the NPO Reports where it said that the contemplated killing of the leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) was one of the signs that Buhari harboured hatred for the race.
The organisation said, “At Ohanaeze Ndigbo, we initially dismissed these stone-cold international conspiracy theories against our beloved Igbo brethren. However, our suspicions have now transformed into certainties, thanks to the spine-tingling revelations made by Mr. Femi Adeshina, the former spokesperson for Former President Buhari.
Adeshina chillingly admitted that “there was indeed a contemplation of the killing option before adopting the strategy of subjecting Nnamdi Kanu to court prosecution.
“These admissions now expose the nefarious web in which Buhari’s government entangled itself, willingly executing the scripts of international conspirators against the Igbo in their unjust arrest of Nnamdi Kanu.
The blatant disregard for court pronouncements and verdicts in favor of Nnamdi Kanu’s release further strengthens our suspicions, suggesting a sordid partnership with international forces.“
In the statement signed by its General Secretary, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, Ohanaeze said there was suspicion that the United Kingdom government connived with the Buhari administration in what it called “an egregious international conspiracy against the Igbo during his tenure.”
Asking Buhari to clear his name, the organisation accused Buhari of providing the much needed impetus for ethnic warlords to unleash attacks on the Igbos by Fulani herders in the Southern part of Nigeria. Ohanaeze Ndigbo, asked Buhari to cleanse “his tarnished name and urgently address these egregious allegations.”
It said further, “There can be no more delay; the time for truth-telling is now. Ndigbo and all Nigerians are well aware of the underlying facts surrounding this deplorable situation.
“It was Buhari’s government that provided the oxygen to the flames of self-determination struggles in southern Nigeria, an offshoot of the heinous criminal activities and genocidal killings unleashed upon us by suspected Fulani herdsmen in the Eastern and Western regions.
Buhari’s deliberate silence and insidious attempts to empower Myetti Allah groups through initiatives like RUGA in the south have birthed defiant resistance movements, forcing separatist groups like Sunday Igboho in the Southwest and IPOB under Nnamdi Kanu’s visionary leadership in the Southeast to arise.
Let it be known, that without Buhari’s wholehearted dedication to the “Fulanization Agenda,” Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Igboho would not have metamorphosed into the heroes they are today.
They are, in essence, children of dire circumstances, and Buhari must courageously step forward to address the Nigerian people.
Ohanaeze Ndigbo implored Buhari to resolve within him and provide Nigerians with an unambiguous account of the truth. “Justice and transparency demand nothing less. The Igbo people, alongside the entirety of Nigeria, deserve honesty and accountability,” the group said
