The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has released to fuel marketers a new price list at the depot. This is just as marketers said the arrangement is an unfair treatment saying asking marketers to buy at old rate at the price of the new.
The latest depot price released by the NNPC-L now is N479.50 per litre for petrol . The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), National Vice President, Alhaji Abubakar Maigandi has been quoted in media interview to have said that some of the marketers are selling at ex-depot price. “The price has started coming out. Some depots have started releasing the price. They are selling at the rate of N479.50. That is the ex-depot price. You know the banks are charging you based on the money they lent you..”
He explained that independent marketers had already purchased the product from the NNPCL . “Now they are saying they will give us the product for this new rate and not the old rate we paid at. And it is with our money that they bought this product. These are parts of the challenges we are encountering now.”
