Suspends Station Manager
- Safiu Kehinde
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Retail Ltd has sacked a pump attendant and suspended a Station Manager over alleged attempt to swindle a customer at its station in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
This was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the company.
As captured in a viral video shared on X on Thursday, the customer had challenged the pump attendant for selling fuel below the amount he paid for.
While one of the pump attendant’s colleagues could be seen begging the customer, the culprit remained unremorseful for her action as she continued with her duty.
In reaction, the NNPC condemned the action, stressing that it does not reflect the company’s commitment to integrity, transparency, and exceptional customer service.
It announced the sacking of the pump attendant and the suspension of the station manager.
A formal warning letter was also issued to the retailer.
“The NNPC Retail Limited wishes to state categorically that such behaviour is unacceptable and does not reflect the company’s commitment to integrity, transparency, and exceptional customer service.
“In response to this incident, NNPC Retail Limited has taken the following decisive actions in line with its sanction grid:
“The pump attendant involved has been disengaged. The Station Manager has been suspended.
“A formal warning letter has been issued to the dealer,” the company said.
The NNPC, while thanking the public for being vigilant, encouraged the reporting of any incidents through the appropriate channels (customer service numbers and email displayed at all stations) for immediate action.
It also assured all customers of its continued strict enforcement of compliance with its operational standards across its network of filling stations.
