Governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde, told those allegedly sowing seeds of discord over the stool of Olubadan to stop. Makinde said there are no controversies as far as the selection process is concerned urging those creating division to stop it.
The Governor spoke when he hosted some Muslim leaders in his private Ikolaba residence in the state capital on Wednesday.
He used the opportunity of his hosting the religious leaders to warn those carrying different rumours to stop. He urged religious leaders to seek those things that unite the state instead of those that divide it. NPO Reports that the late Olubadan Oba Lekan Balogun died last month. His successor, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, was named a day after.
However, the Otun Balogun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Abimbola Ajibola, declared on Tuesday that the Olubadan-designate, Oba Olakulehin, was not physically fit to assume the throne at this time.
Oba Ajibola, addressing journalists at his private residence in Sanyo, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, stated, “Why the rush? We have not even seen him (Olakulehin). He has not communicated with us or the people of Ibadan.
“I am his second in command, his lieutenant. Yet, he has not reached out to inform me of his return or discuss his plans. They are merely pressuring him due to their own selfish interests.”
