Isiaka Owoade, a former special adviser to former Osun state governor, Rauf Aregbesola, has lamented over the system of producing candidate by political parties in the country.
Owoade alleged that political parties no longer choose candidates on merits by imposition.
The former Chairman of Osun state Education Quality Assurance Board alleged that political parties now choose candidates base on level of affiliation.
Owoade made this known in a post on his Facebook page on Friday.
He urged upcoming politician get a political godfather who might remember them after fixing his children and those described as his as his ‘kitchen cronies’.
Owoade held that there is no reward for merit anymore in Nigerian politics.
The consequences of this, according to the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chieftain, is the nation being led by the most incompetent politicians.
“Advice to upcoming politicians. Don’t ever think that being brilliant will take you there. Find some baba to worship and maybe he would remember you after he has fixed his own children, kitchen cronies and those able to afford his fees.
“There is no reward for merit any more. In fact there is no system to identify and reward merit any more. This obtains in all the parties.
“The result is that we are being led by the worst of us and everyone is scared to talk about it. I have written this regardless of the possible consequences.” Owoade wrote.
