A mammoth crowd of supporters, on Monday, welcomed Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State to Okitipupa, Okitipupa Local Government Area (LGA) of the state during his visit to solicit support for his re-election bid.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Aiyedatiwa visited Okitipupa town to meet stakeholders as part of his tour across the state, ahead of APC governorship primary, scheduled for Saturday, April 20
Several thousands of supporters, who had mobilised to the Idepe-Okitipupa Hall, sang praises of Aiyedatiwa and assured him of their support for his re-election as governor.
The governor, while thanking the crowd for their solidarity and support, urged them to turnout enmass to vote for him in order to emerge as the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag bearer at the party’s party primary.
“I am impressed with the crowd here today. I thank you for your support and solidarity for me but I appeal to you to replicate this support for me on Saturday and cast your votes for us to be victorious.
“For all members of the party not to be disemfrancised, we have paid for all membership cards, so that all of you have the opportunity to vote on that day.
“With your maximum votes on Saturday, I am confident of emerging as flag bearer of our party and wining the governorship election to serve you beyond 2025,” Aiyedatiwa said.
Earlier, the governor visited the palace of Oba Michael Adetotoye-Obatuga, the Jegun of Idepe-Okitipupa, who doubles as the Chairman, Council of Obas in Okitipupa LGA.
Present to receive Aiyedatiwa at the palace were no fewer than 15 traditional rulers in Okitipupa Local Government Area.
He thanked the royal father’s for their optimal support since he was sworn in as the governor of the state, following the demise of late Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, who died Dec. 27, 2023.
“I have come for your endorsement too and I believe as revered traditional rulers whatever you say will be stamped by God,” he said.
Oba Adetoye-Obatuga, in his remarks on behalf of other traditional rulers, lauded the governor for all the achievements he has so far recorded since he became governor in the state.
“We thank you for your visit today and all the achievement you have recorded so far.
“We will support you in our own little way and we pray for you that Almighty God will grant all your heart desires concerning the election,” Adetoye-Obatuga said.
