Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, is set to appoint new 1,000 aides following the sacking of his former aides.
This was announced in a statement issued on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan.
According to Adeniyan, Aiyedatiwa had relieved his former aides, largely comprising of Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants, of their duties in said bid to enhance efficiency and deepen service delivery.
In their stead, a new 1000 aides are to be appointed across the 203 wards in the 18 local government areas of the state.
The governor expressed his gratitude to his former aides for their contributions to the development of the state.
The statement read; “In the ongoing drive to enhance efficiency and deepen service delivery, Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has relieved all political aides of their duties with immediate effect.
“Those affected are Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants to the Governor.
“The Governor thanked them for their contributions to the development of the State thus far and wished them well in their future endeavours.
“Meanwhile, in a step to strengthen coordination and inject fresh capacity into the administration, about 1000 new aides, from across the 203 wards in the 18 local government areas of the State, will be made by the Governor in due course.”
Meanwhile, the development would see Aiyedatiwa join the list political office holders with mammoth aides- a trend which had overtime become subject of controversy.
Popular among the list of political office holders to have followed the trend is Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, who had during his tenure as Rivers State governor in 2022, appointed 28,000 Special Assistants.
