A construction worker has been confirmed dead with three others rescued from the rubbles of a collapsed two-storey building under construction in Lagos.
The tragic incident, as confirmed by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), occured around 3:50pm on Sunday at Idi Araba, Mushin area of Lagos.
While confirming the death of one if the rescued construction workers, the NEMA Lagos Territorial Office’s Coordinator, Ibrahim Farinloye, held that three other victims were rescued alive.
“So far, one person has been confirmed dead, while three others have been rescued alive.
“Search and rescue operations are ongoing continue,” he wrote.

Also confirming the death of one of the rescued victims to newsmen was Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson, Shakiru Amodu.
“Unfortunately, one adult male has been recovered dead,” he said.
Shortly after the incident, NEMA had in a statement on its X handle confirmed the rescue of two victims which was done in collaboration with other stakeholders which included the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the Fire Service, Police, and local volunteers.
“The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), in collaboration with other emergency response agencies, has responded to a building collapse incident that occurred in Mushin, Lagos State.
“At approximately 3:50 p.m. today, NEMA Lagos Operations Office received an alert concerning the collapse of a two-storey building under construction located at Ishaga Road, opposite the Central Mosque in Idi Araba, Mushin.
“Upon arrival at the scene, emergency responders commenced immediate search and rescue operations. So far, two individuals have been successfully rescued and transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
“The search and rescue operations are still ongoing, with NEMA working alongside other relevant stakeholders including the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the Fire Service, Police, and local volunteers to ensure no one is left trapped under the rubble.
“Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.” The statement has read.
