Nigerian businessman and President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has announced that the Dangote refinery has over the past 50 days exported about one million tonnes of petrol across the globe.
The Africa’s richest man made the announcement during his address at the Global Commodity Insights Conference on West African Refined Fuel Markets, organized by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) in collaboration with S&P Global Insights.
Speaking at the event held on Tuesday, Dangote disclosed said that Nigeria has become a net exporter of refined products as he shared the accomplishment of his refinery from June.
“Today, Nigeria has actually become a net exporter of refined products. Before I came on the podium, I asked my people how many tonnes of PMS we have actually exported.
“From June beginning to date, we have exported about 1 million tonnes of PMS, within the last 50 days.” He said.
This attracted commendations from industry experts at the conference as they described the development as a game-changer for West Africa’s energy landscape.
According to report, the new milestone achieved by Dangote refinery had sparked optimism among stakeholders, with calls for continued investment in infrastructure and policies to sustain this momentum.
