The Osun State Election Police Commissioner, Erale Etaifo, has assured the electorates of the state of adequate security coverage of all polling units.
Etaifo gave the assurance while addressing election observers and other stakeholders at the office of the European Union–Support to Democratic Governance in Nigeria (EU‑SDGN).
As part of the police effort to ensure adequate security at the poll, the commissioner said four police officers will be deployed across each polling units.
‘As I speak to you, at least 95 percent of the personnel we need for this operation are already on ground.
‘Deployment is ongoing. We are going to cover all the whole local government, towns and villages.
‘At least you will see four security personnel in each polling booths. That I can guarantee you.’ Etaifo said.
The CP reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to providing a safe, neutral, and enabling environment for voters, election officials, observers, and all stakeholders before, during, and after the election.
The meeting had in attendance representatives of Yiaga Africa, TAF Africa, the Kukah Centre, the International Press Centre, and the Nigerian Women Trust Fund.
