No fewer than five people have been feared dead in clash by suspected thugs attempting to take over the Naira and Kobo garage in Ikire area of Osun State.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday when the suspected thugs from two different factions stormed the park and engaged in fierce fire exchange.
The gun duel threw the town into panic as residents and commuters scampered for safety.
Unfortunately, some commuters and motorists were caught in the crossfire.
Graphic videos shared on X showed a man lying lifeless on the floor while another man suspected to be a driver left bloodied after being shot in the head in his car.
NPO Reports contacted the Osun Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, who in a telephone conversation with our correspondent disclosed that the police are currently at the scene of the clash and are verifying the claims surrounding the attack.
‘I’m at Ikire presently now with the Commissioner of Police. We will revert to the public once we verify the facts.’ He said.
The clash is coming barely a week after the 2026 Osun Governorship Election.
Prior to the election, the state governor, Ademola Adeleke, had banned the activities of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, at motor parks across the state.
