A retired Chief Superintend of Police, Adekunle Omoyele has been named as the new Command of the Western Nigeria Security Network code-named Amotekun in Osun State.
Governor Ademola Adeleke who announced the new appointee through his Secretary to the State Governor, Teslim Igbalaye, said that Omoyele will carry out the new assignment in addition to his present task as the Special Adviser on Internal Security.
The letter of appointment signed by the Secretary to the State Government, stated that Omoyele’s appointment takes effect from Wednesday, July 3.
“In addition to your existing responsibility as the corps commander, Amotekun Security Network, you are expected to put to use the experience garnered during your remarkable years of active service.” the letter reads.
The new Osun Amotekun commander retired from the Police Force in 2023 after 35 years in service.
The Western Nigeria Security Network code named Amotekun Corps was jointly formed by the South-West governors in 2020.
The security outfit was set up to complement the efforts of other agencies to tackle crimes in the South West region.
