Former Governor of Osun State, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, has asked the Independent National Electoral Commission to look into the processes involved in the conduct of future elections.
He said this is to stop future legal cases as was the case in the July 16 2022 poll where he was declared the looser.
Oyetola was reacting to the judgement of the tribunal which ruled in his favour on Friday.
The tribunal upturned the victory of Governor Ademola Adeleke, who was declared the winner of the 2022 exercise.
“INEC is the greatest beneficiary of the judgment. It will afford them the opportunity to look at all the anomalies and make necessary adjustments to prevent such mistakes now that the general elections are coming,” Oyetola said in his immediate response.
The immediate past governor described the verdict of election petition tribunal, as a collective victory for the state and the nation’s democracy.
Oyetola spoke with newsmen in his country home, Iragbiji.
He said there was no victor and no vanquished.
He said, “There is no victor, no vanquished. It is a collective victory for our state and our nation’s democracy.
“I am happy that the judgment had resolved the controversy of July 16th 2022 governorship election.
“I thank the people of the state and supporters for standing by us, for their courage and loyalty. I want to assure them that we are ready to continue to serve them”, he said.
