Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has alleged police deployment of an officer from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, to disrupt voting exercise in his town.
Adeleke made the allegation after casting his vote at Polling Unit 9, Ward 2, Arogunde/Sagba, Ede North Local Government Area, in the ongoing Osun State governorship election.
Speaking with journalists shortly after voting, the Accord Party candidate raised alarm over alleged plans to further disrupt voting in some areas.
He called on the election Commissioner of Police Erale Etaifo, to look into the allegation involving of the officers deployed to the town.
“I have it on authority information that there is one police officer who was brought from Port Harcourt to do hatchet job.
“He is here in Ede hiding. His own job is to come and destroy Ede.
“I want everyone to be on the lookout. I want the Commissioner of Police in charge of the election to take note and do the needful,” Adeleke said..
On the conduct of the election at his polling unit, the governor said the process was going well and expressed hope that the peaceful atmosphere would be sustained across the state.
“I have done my civic duty. I voted and as of now, it is going well, and I hope it continues like that,” Adeleke said.
However, Adeleke demanded the collation of the election results according to due process as he warned against bypassing of the local government collation before transferring results to state’ capital city.
‘All we want is free and fair election. Secondly, the pattern of voting should be from unit to ward, and to local government.
‘Not that they will take local government collation straight to state’s capital. That is not acceptable. That is a form of rigging.’ He said.
Adeleke further accused the All Progrssives Congress of plot to rig the election with fake ballot papers.
‘And I have it on authority that the APC are trying to rig with fake ballot papers. I want Osun people to watch out for that too. We will not accept that.’ The governor said.
He however expressed confidence of victory, adding, “I know by the special grace of God, I am winning this election”.
