Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki said that Labour Party, LP is the biggest challenge of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in the South-East region of the country.
Saraki made this submission during an interview on Arise TV’s The Morning Show on Monday.
He said: “South-South is a strong PDP area. We will do very well in South-South, South-East, the challenge we have there, of course, is Labour.
“But we will still do well in the South-East and take our 25 per cent. We will do well in North Central, we will do well in North-West and North-East,”he said.
Meanwhile, the former Governor of Kwara State also insisted that the PDP will win four political zones – North-West, North-East, South-South and North-Central during the election.
“We need four zones. By the time you have four zones, you will win the election.
“The four zones that we will win are North-west, North-east, South-south and North-central, and we will take our 25 per cent more than 24 states. There is no doubt about that,”he added.
Speaking about the G-5 Governors,Saraki said that nobody is against the demands being made by Governor Nyesom Wike and his aggrieved colleagues.
According to him, every concerned stakeholders are on the same page with Governor Wike and colleagues adding that it’s a matter of “timing”
“This is not what Atiku can do by his own decision. I can assure you that it is an issue of timing.Everybody is on the same page with what the G-5 are asking for. It’s all about when it will happen.
“These are the kinds of things we are talking about now. Nobody is against what they’re saying but it’s about timing, when it’ll happen and how we’ll go about it and we’re working to see those issues are addressed.
“The Chairman himself didn’t say he wants to sit tight but what’s important before us now is the election.
“I don’t see Atiku being sworn in May 2023 and the Chairman still remains in that office. I don’t see it. It’s all about timing and how to go about it,”he said
The governors, angered by the outcome of the party’s presidential primary election won by Atiku Abubakar, have been demanding that the party Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, should step down for a Southerner to occupy the position for the sake of equity.
