Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has talked down the impact of Olagunsoye Oyinlola’s withdrawal of support of his re-election, stressing that the former governor of the state is irrelevant in his quest towards victory at the August 15 governorship election.
NPO Reported that Oyinlola had in June dumped Adeleke to endorse the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) gubernatorial candidate, Hon. Adewale Adebayo.
The former governor had in addressing during the endorsement dismissed the alleged alliance between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Accord Party, noting that the structure would rather work for APM and not any other party.
Reacting to Oyinlola’s withdrawal of his support, Adeleke accused the ex-governor of being jealous of him.
He made the allegation while speaking a Town Hall panel discussion hosted by Arise TV on Tuesday in Osogbo, Osun state’s capital city.
Adeleke, in his address, maintained that Oyinlola had never supported his family.
He maintained that the ex-governor’s withdrawal of support is a relief to him as he claimed that Oyinlola had always been at the losing team in all elections.
Adeleke labelled him a paperweight who has no significance in the path to victory.
He also claimed to have once bought a car or the ex-governor during their time together.
‘Gov. Oyinlola is so jealous of me and my family. He has never supported the Adeleke family.
‘It is good he did not support me because he has a trend. If he did, anything might happen.
‘In his hometown, I beat him there. All he does is talk and say proverbs.
‘Is it that proverb that people will vote for. He came to me that he doesn’t have a car. I gave it to hm. He is a paperweight and I’m not worried about him.’ He said.
On concerns over possible defeat to the Federal-backed All Progressives Congress, Adeleke allayed the concern as he reiterated that he would win the election.
‘You don’t know me. I’m a bulldozer. They don’t call me action Jackson for nothing.
‘Let them bring all the governors, they are all my friends.
‘At the end of the day, they will call me and say we are just playing o.’ He said.
Meanwhile, the governor slammed Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, for making mockery of his dancing.
Adeleke accused the governor of coming to Osun without getting any security clearance from him.
‘You came to my state without clearance. He sounds like Opolo
‘They are not the ones to vote.’ He said.
