The University of Uyo Teaching Hospital has on Tuesday been thrown into a state of panic as masked security operatives stormed the premises.
The security personnel alleged to be police officers sparked fear among officials and visitors on their arrival at the hospital.
They reportedly headed straight to the office of the Deputy Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC) dragging out the senior official and assaulting him.
According to a post shared on X, some staff who attempted to intervene were allegedly beaten with the personnel threatening to shoot anyone who further intervened.
Video attached to the post showed bewildered medical staff and visitors loitering outside the hospital as the security personnel ordered the closure of the gate.
The circumstance surrounding the invasion largely remain unknown with no statement from the police confirming the claim of the masked operatives being their personnel.
