A three-storey building has on Monday night collapsed hours after being sealed up by the Federal Capital Territory Development Authority, FCDA, in Abuja.
Prior to the incident, officials of the FCDA had reportedly ordered the occupants of the house located in Wuse Zone 3 to evacuate as they sealed up the house over its distressed state.
The build would, hours after, being to collapse, sparking panic among residents.
According to a post shared on X by the FCT Minister’s spokesperson, Lere Olayinka, the incident occurred around 8:42pm.
Video capturing the moment of the collapse showed the building caving in slowly as residents watched from distance.
It however remains unclear if there are still people inside the building as at the time of the collapse.
Meanwhile, the FCT Fire Service was swiftly deployed to the scene for rescue operation.

Also on ground at the scene were ambulance service officials.
