Members of the Amuwo Odofin community in Lagos State woken up today to another instance of deadly pipeline explosions as some residents are feared trapped in some parts of the burning area.
The NPO Reports gathered that the explosion was first heard in areas such as Abule Ado, Ijegun, Egbeda, Okota and Ikotun as the fire raged on.
This is suspected to be outcome of another bunkering activity by some criminals who have made the area a danger zone.
Just last month a similary tragedy occurred in the Oke odo Abule Egba axis of the state. Deaths were recorded.
As at the time of filing this report, it was not clear the number of persons who had been trapped in the raging fire. However, some residents who had fled the area were shouting rescue for those who had not escaped from the scene.
There are conflicting versions of how the explosion started. A version said a tipper lorry had broken an open pipe while discharging its sand in an area. Another account has it that some bunkerers had broken a pipe before the fire started.
