- Safiu Kehinde
Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde, has pleaded with the Federal Capital Territory Minister and former Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, to spare Oyo of his threat to put fire in some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors’ states.
Makinde made this plea while delivering his goodwill speech at the Ijaw Peoples Congress held on Saturday at Port Harcourt in honour of the FCT Minister.
Commending the Minister over the projects he executed during his stint as Rivers state governor, Makinde taunted him to spare Oyo of his impending fire on PDO governors who supported the current governor of the state, Siminalayi Fubara.
“When I showed up yesterday, I told him I bought peace offering because he has been boasting that he will put fire in some states. I said please don’t put fire in Oyo state.
“You have done well for your people. When we came in, I saw projects that were done during your eight years tenure in office.” Makinde said.
Recall that Wike had, last month, accused the PDP’s governors forum of interfering with Rivers politics, inciting political unrest in the state.
He had, however, threatened to cause same unrest at their respective states as the governors drummed support for Fubara who Wike vowed not to submit to.
