Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have apprehended a suspected bandits’ ammunition supplier in Abuja.
The operatives attached to the FCT Command’s Tactical Team, reportedly nabbed the 32-year-old suspect identified as Ahmed Abubakar at his residence in Anguwan Dodo, Gwagwalada area of FCT on Sunday.
As contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the FCT Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, preliminary investigation revealed that Abubakar, an indigene of Gusau, Zamfara State, was in contact with an associate, identified as Yusuf Mohammed.
He allegedly intented to procure 1,000 rounds of ammunition to be supplied to bandits in Zamfara.
Further investigation revealed that he was sent by his uncle, one Ahmed Yakubu, believed to be a key accomplice and currently at large, to purchase and transport the ammunition for criminal elements operating within their locality in the state.
The suspect, according to the statement is currently in police custody as further investigative efforts are underway to apprehend his fleeing accomplice and dismantle the criminal network involved.
Adeh reiterated the FCT Police Command’s commitment to its mission of ridding the Territory of crime and ensure the safety of residents.
