The Delta State Police have made arrests following widespread outrage over rape and mass molestation linked to a local festival in Ozoro.

The Police Spokesperson, Bright Edafe confirmed the arrest in a post on X.
He revealed that the community head and chief organiser of the event, identified as Chief Omorede Sunday, alongside four other suspects from the Oramudhu quarters, have been taken into custody.
According to him, the Commissioner of Police has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigation.
He added that authorities are committed to ensuring that all individuals connected to the incident are identified and prosecuted.
“The community head and chief organiser of the event, one chief Omorede Sunday and four other suspects from Oramudu quarters in Ozoro have been arrested.
“The CP has ordered that they should be transferred to State CID with immediate effect.
“The CP vows that anyone involved will be arrested and brought to justice”
According to some social media posts seen by NPO Reports, the festival was planned and carried out without the knowledge or approval of the traditional ruler of the Ozoro community.
