Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested an ex-convict,Yakub Yusuf
The suspect according to the police spokeman in the state, Benjamin Hundeyin was apprehended hours after he was released from jail.
The 23-year-old Yusuf was convicted early November for stealing at a government fuel dump in Alausa, Ikeja,but was given an option of fine.
He had been sentenced to one-month imprisonment
Less than two weeks into his term, a non-governmental organization facilitated his release by paying the fine.
After he regained freedom, Yusuf was nabbed again after illegal entering the Lagos State Fire Service premises.
Hundeyin said he(victim) stole valve covers of old fire trucks under repairs.
“The suspect, Yakub Yusuf aged 23 was arrested around 0800hrs on Saturday after regaining freedom following his one-month prison sentence for stealing at Lagos State fuel dump, Alausa, Ikeja.
“Learning that he was imprisoned because he could not pay a fine which was an option, an NGO facilitated his release by paying the fine on Friday, November 11,just ten days after his conviction on November 1, 2022.

“Yakub was arrested again after breaking into Lagos State Fire Service premises from where he stole valve covers of old fire truck under repairs,” the statement read
The RRS, led by CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, has transferred him to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for prosecution.
