The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old ex-convict, Olayinka Oluwaseyi, over alleged attempt to rob a male motorist on Mile 12 Bridge along Ikorodu road.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin.
According to the statement, the suspect, who was armed with two knives, was arrested yesterday at about 1:30pm.
His swift arrest was reportedly made possible by the timely intervention of the patrol officers attached to the Ketu Police Division.
However, one other suspect involved in the attempted robbery evaded the police arrest with effort ongoing to apprehend him.
Following his arrest, preliminary investigation revealed that Oluwaseyi was released from prison three months ago for the same crime.
He had since been detained in custody and set to be arraigned once investigations are concluded.
In reaction to the development , the Lagos Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, applauded the vigilance and professionalism of the Ketu Division officers.
Olohundare as quoted by Hundeyin, reiterated the Command’s firm stance against all forms of criminality, especially traffic robbery, and reassures Lagosians of the police’s readiness to clamp down on those who threaten the safety of residents.
He further urged members of the public to remain alert and cooperate with the police by reporting any suspicious movements or individuals.
