The Nigeria Police Force has arrested three suspected members of an armed robbery and car-snatching syndicate operating across Kaduna State and the Federal Capital Territory.
The suspects were arrested by operatives of the Special Tactical Squad (STS) during coordinated operations conducted between August 14 and 19, 2026.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday via the police’s X handle.
According to the statement, the suspects were identified as Ahmed Saidu, also known as Diamond ‘M’, Alex Gabriel, also known as Junior ‘M’, and Ahmed Mahudu, also known as Diamond ‘M’.
The police said the suspects were linked to a series of armed robbery incidents involving the snatching of vehicles at gunpoint.
It said the suspects, during interrogation, confessed to their involvement in the criminal activities and mentioned one Yakubu Yewa, also known as Y/Come, as the alleged kingpin of the syndicate.
The Force said investigation revealed that Yewa is currently being held at the Kuje Correctional Centre, where he is facing trial for armed robbery.
According to the police, further investigation showed that the alleged kingpin coordinated and directed the syndicate’s robbery operations and the disposal of stolen vehicles within and outside Nigeria.
The operatives also recovered two vehicles during the operations, including a red Toyota Corolla and an army-colour Volkswagen Golf 3.
The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling criminal networks, protecting lives and property, and ensuring that perpetrators of violent crimes are brought to justice.
