The Nigeria Police Force has debunked alleged invasion of Committee for Defence of Human Rights’s (CDHR) symposium in Lagos.
Reacting to the invasion claims as reported yesterday, Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, disclaimed the report as he explained the reason behind Police presence at CDHR’s office.
In his reaction on his official X handle earlier today, Hundeyin affirmed that the Police were on ground to provide security as the symposium was held without any form of hindrance while accusing Vanguard of sensationalism.
“The police were present around the venue but at no point did the police invade the venue or stop anyone from gaining access to the venue.
“The symposium held without any form of hindrance and under adequate security provided by the police and other security agencies.
“We have seen pictures from the CDHR itself of police officers meters away from the building but are yet to see pictures of any invasion or obstruction.
“Again, to suit their predetermined narrative, Vanguard conveniently left out a paragraph from the ambiguous CDHR statement that reads:
‘CDHR hopes the police authority presence at our National Headquarters is meant for the protection of the symposium and maintenance of law as well as peaceful deliberation.’
“There was no invasion! We even provided security for their procession from Adeniyi Jones to Alausa.” Hundeyin wrote.
