The Ebonyi State Police Command has on Thursday expressed strong concern over the rising cases of homicide in the state.
Urunwa Okafor, the state’s Police Commissioner, made this known in a statement issued in Abakaliki by SP Joshua Ukandu, Spokesman of the command.
As quoted in the statement, Okafor described the rising cases of murder as “bad act to mankind”.
She noted that the command had in the month of March, charged four persons to court over alleged homicide.
“The suspects include: Onyebuchi Eze (m), Eze Nwuke (m), Odinaka Emmanuel Okoh (m), and Uchenna Ota (m) to court for alleged involvement in murder cases.
“These developments are deeply concerning. We expresses strong dismay over the rising incidence of homicide in the state,” The Police Commissioner stated.
She appealed to the people of Ebonyi and residents of the state to refrain from taking the law into their hands and to promptly report grievances to the nearest police station.
The commissioner further emphasised that murder was not only a capital offence but also a grave crime against humanity.
She reaffirmed her open-door policy and urged members of the public to come forward with complaints, assuring them of prompt attention.
