Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have successfully rescued three kidnap victims and recovered arms in the Ajebo axis under the Owode-Egba Division.
This was contained in a statement by the State’s Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola, on Saturday.
The victims were reportedly abducted on the 16th of July, 2025.
Acting on intelligence, officers from the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit launched a rescue operation on the 18th of July, 2025.
According to Odutola, the victims were rescued unharmed.
During the operation, the kidnappers engaged the police team in a gun duel. In the ensuing exchange of fire, two of the kidnappers were fatally wounded, while others escaped deeper into the forest with gunshot injuries.
Exhibits recovered at the scene include: One AK-47 rifle (Breech No. 5005584) loaded with 139 rounds of 5.6mm ammunition, One magazine, A cutlass, Chain and padlock (believed to have been used to restrain the victims)
Additionally, some of the items include, the sum of #1,200,035 (suspected to be proceeds of crime),and Mobile phones.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo Ph.d. commended the swift and tactical response Of Anti-Kidnapping Unit and assured that operatives are on the trail of the remaining suspects.
The Commnad remains resolute in its zero-tolerance approach to kidnapping and other toilet crimes in Ogun State.
