The police on Sunday accused actress, Laide Bakare of misinforming members of the public over the incident that led to the impounding of her car in Lagos.
According to the Police, the actress had driven on the BRT Lane leading to officials of the Lagos State Transport Management Agency (LASTMA) apprehending her.
Bakare had made social media posts alleging that the officials abused her rights and drove her car away to “unknown destination” with her child in the car.
The video had gone viral.
But the police command countered the actress on Sunday accusing her of distorting facts.
”You were stopped for contravening traffic laws by driving on the BRT lane. You chose to create a scene. You chose to remain out of your vehicle when it was being taken to LAMATA office. The officers were not going to succumb to your gimmick to hold them down at that spot. You rightly paid the correct fine for your offence – N70,000 – into government coffers. You left with the receipt and your vehicle. Not a finger was laid on you,” Benjamin Hundeyin, Spokesman of the Lagos Command of the Nigerian Police said
Bakare, in one of the videos she made with her child, had said, “yesterday it was a terrible while experiencing the brutal way Nigerians are treated.”
She said her 14 year old child was driven away in a “confused way” where she did not know where she was being driven to.
