Will Charge Him for Attempted Suicide If Found to be Stable
The Nigeria Police Force on Tuesday announced that it has sent a man, Shuaibu Yussuf who attempted suicide in Abuja on Monday for mental test.
The Federal Capital Territory police command whose men were also at the Katampe Hill Aso Radio mast where Yussuf had climbed on Monday, said if the man is found to be mentally stable, he would be charged to court for attempted suicide and inciting the public and disturbance of public peace.
Josephine Adeh, spokesperson of the FCT Command, confirmed this in a statement on Tuesday.
She wrote, “We have sent Shuaibu Yushau, the man who climbed a broadcast mast yesterday to the Social Development Secretariat for mental evaluation. If found mentally stable after the test, he will be charged to court for attempted suicide, disturbance of public peace and incitement.”
NPO Reported on Monday that emergency personnel were deployed to the Katampe Hill scene of the attempted suicide. A public address system was used to communicate wthe Yussuf who climbed to a very dangerous height of the Aso Radio mast before he was discovered.
He had carried with him a placard where he listed his grievances against the government.
Among others, he had asked the government to restore fuel subsidy, provision of security in the country and others.
After a long time when the officials appealed to him, he came down but was subsequently arrested.
