Popular Nigerian sports journalist and on-air-personality, Temisan, Okomi, is dead.
Okomi’s tragic demise was announced in posts shared on X by his fans and colleagues on Friday.
While the actual cause of his death is yet to be confirmed, some of the posts suggested that he died after brief illness.
The late sport journalist who worked at Classic FM 97.3 and Lagos Talks 91.3, was largely known for his infectious energy and mentorship.
His demise had since thrown the sports industry into a period of mourning as colleagues, followers, and others paid tribute to him.
While announcing his death on his official X handle, popular Nigerian sports photojournalist, Pooja Media, recalled the late Okomi’s time at HITV which he claimed inspired youngers ones and open doors for them thrive in the industry.
“We lost a Legend in our industry. A man despite being a big broadcaster at HITV then, he opened doors for young people like us to thrive in the sports industry.
“I’m grateful that while alive, we told him consistently how he impacted our lives. RIP Temisan Okomi” Pooja wrote.
More tributes are still flowing for the late broadcasters across the country with some colleagues and sports enthusiasts expressing their shock and sadness over the news of Okomi’s death.
