The Rivers state command of the Nigerian Police on Sunday dissociated itself from a statement which indicated that the Commissioner of Police, Tunji Disu, has threatened to impound power bikes in the escort of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesome Wike anytime he uses it.
The comment was first credited to Disu in an X post on Friday. In the post by one Anucha Brain Rotimi, he had initially queried the right of the Minister breezing into the state capital with a long convoy that has power bikes in it. “What does the law say about this.

A look at the profile of Anucha shows he is a loyalist of the former Governor of the state and immediate past Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi. He is believed to also be in support of the current governor, Sim Fubara.
NPO Reports that Fubara and Wike are locked in battle of supremacy over the control of the state. Fubara succeeded Wike as Governor last year but the relationship between the two have gone sour over the control of government machinery in the state.
