The mother of the Ex-queen of Ooni of Ife, Prophetess Naomi Shilekunola has called on Nigerians to come to her aid following her daughter’s remand in prison.
NPO Reports that she was detained alongside Agidigbo FM owner, Mr. Oriyomi Hamzat, and the Principal of Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan, Fasasi Abdullahi Babatunde in the Agodi Correctional Centre following the stampede that claimed the lives of 35 children in Ibadan, Oyo State.
In a video seen by NPO Reports, her mother was seen wailing and visibly distressed, calling on Nigerians to come to her aid and help free her allegedly innocent daughter.
“Help me, have mercy on me, don’t let them destroy my life, my daughter has been doing this program for over 10 years to help children.
“Please, help me free Naomi, help me free my daughter, she is very innocent.
Recalling the incident that occurred, she stated that the program was supposed to commence by 10am however, people had began to arrive even a day before.
According to her, the crowd had gotten uncontrollable even before her daughter had arrived.
“The programme was meant to begin at 10 a.m., but people started arriving the day before. By 6:30 a.m., the crowd became uncontrollable. Naomi wasn’t even there yet.
“I received a call about the chaos while still asleep. My phone number was on the event flyer, so I was the one contacted. Naomi, her elder brother, and I immediately went to the police station to report the incident, but she was detained and later charged with murder”
“Please, I beg those in power to release her. She is not a killer; she came to help. Naomi is fragile and sick. President Tinubu, I beg you, come to our aid,” she pleaded.
