Despite the declaration of public holiday by the state government, a group of rain-beaten public-school children were on Wednesday morning lined up along Benue state road to welcome President Bola Tinubu.
The President is expected to arrive at the state today in a condolence visit to victims of the suspected armed herdsmen’s attack at Yelewata town.
NPO Reported that over 200 people were massacred by the assailants over the weekend with many burnt alive.
While commiserating with the people of Benue, Tinubu had on Monday announced plan to pay a condolence visit to the state.
However, the scheduled visit had since sparked several controversies with the latest being the students lined up along the road in anticipation to the visit.
As captured in the video shared on X by News Central TV, the heavily drenched students could be heard rendering the national anthem as the President’s convoy drove past them.
The vehicles splashed water on some of the students who continued singing under the poor weather condition.
