A video of lady charging Nigerians to appreciate President Bola Tinubu over the drop in the price of rice has sparked mixed reactions.
The lady, in the video post on X on Wednesday, faulted the silence of Nigerians over the drop in price of rice which, according to her, is now N32,000.
She harped on the need to appreciate the government anytime there is positive changes in the country.
‘Now that a bag of rice is N32,000, nobody is saying anything. But once the thing goes up again, you will come online and be saying all sort of words.
‘At least try to appreciate the changes so they will know that we are aware of everything. Once it goes up again, we will definitely come out and talk.’ She said.
The lady compared appreciating the government with commending a housemaid or one’s child for doing an impressive thing.
Meanwhile, she called out traders selling their rice above N32,000.
‘When people are working for you like when you have house help, try to appreciate them when you see that they really improved.
‘When you see your child doing a good thing, try to appreciate them. Everything drops now and everybody just kept quiet.
‘Some of you wicked people that will be selling rice for N40,000 and be telling us that it is because you still have it before the price dropped, try to appreciate.’ She said.
However, findings from a Lagos-based staple food retailer, Ogundeko Taiwo, by our correspondent revealed that a bag of local Nigerian rice is currently sold around N68,000 while foreign rice sells between N58,000 and N60,000.
The lady’s claim had since sparked mixed reactions with some netizens agreeing with her claim while others disputed her claim.
‘There has never been a time where Nigerians has been appreciative of a president, Nigerians only understand that a president tried his best when they’re faced with another president.. I never thought anyone would ever miss Buhari until Tinubu came in’ @Tech_wizard911
